Nurosafe

Nurosafe was established in 1990 in Sydney, Australia by Dr. Adrian Cohen  as Necksafe Ltd. and became Nurosafe in 2019.

Nurosafe is registered by the Australian Charities and Not For Profits Commission (ACNC) as a Health Promotion Charity (HPC) with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status and is dedicated to the elimination of preventable head and neck injuries through awareness, advocacy, education and research.

Our chief areas of advocacy are:

  • Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) research through brain donation and the Australian Sports Brain Bank
  • A concussion centre for Australia: multidisciplinary centre (doctors, physios, rehab, assessment, treatment and research)
  • Second Impact Syndrome: A Lystedt Law for Australia: legislation to prevent adolescents being sent back into play / training
  • Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS)
  • Past player advocacy for Traumatic Encephalopathy Syndrome (TES): early cognitive decline, motor system problems like Parkinson’s Disease and mental health disturbances leading to depression and suicide
  • Female concussion predisposition
  • Eliminating “the bump” in AFL football
